The regeneration of Barnsley is one of our priorities and we are working hard to make this happen.

Barnsley Property Development Fund
Barnsley Council is rising to the challenge of restructuring and growing the local economy in order to reach its aspirations of a better Barnsley, offering a brighter future for residents and businesses.
For Barnsley to become more competitive as a location for investment and enterprise, it needs to increase the diversity and quality of commercial premises.
Since the beginning of the recession there has been little activity within the Barnsley commercial property market, with property developers operating on a low-risk basis and only committing to speculative development on a pre-let basis.
Therefore, Barnsley Council will explore a range of finance options, including the creation of a Property Investment Fund, to enable it to work in partnership with developers and bring forward speculative development.
The council is seeking to engage with developers to assist in the establishment of the Property Investment Fund and is interested to understand what support would be required to enable commercial development within the borough.
Details of the Property Investment Fund can be downloaded from the YORtender portal. NB: Registration of contact details is required.
'Regeneration' is all about improving social, economic, physical and environmental well being. Our work towards this is detailed on the Barnsley Development Agency website.
